Liszt, Rigoletto - Concert Paraphrase on Opera by Verdi, With Notes on Theory, Performance, and Engraving - For Smaller Hands.
I had long wanted to play this piece ever since I first heard Claudio Arrau - who studied with a student of Liszt - play it many years ago, but I was put off by the many octave passages. However, I recently found as I tried it that I was able to transcribe it for my hands at sight. The present edition is a result of those sight-reading sessions
This edition contains the same engraving apparatus and theoretical material as my standard blue edition, Harmonic Analysis of Liszt’s Rigoletto Paraphrase, with the music transcribed to be playable by those with smaller hands. There are appropriate changes to the performance notes as well. I have been very successful in playing this myself and feel that very few would tell the difference between this and my standard blue edition in recital.
